Day 2 " The Wedding Day "
Regal Procession for wedding Party
In the early evening, the gentlemen gather at Sunset View Terrace for
tying Safas- traditional Indian headgear for such evenings. The Ladies
get all the help from our staff with attire and designer-wear.
All the guests dressed up in the formal attire assemble “Arjun Khurra
Gate” at Promenade. As the procession begins to form, the excitement
grows. The festivities start by recreating the aura of the past, with
a colourful procession with Lance men, horses, and kachi godi dancers.
The procession comprises of girls dressed in Rajasthani attire
sprinkling rose petals and ettar (rose water) in the front and
followed by Dhol / Nagada which is traditionally used for all the
auspicious occasions. The guests and band at the end follow a
caparisoned mare with the bridegroom. Lance men line up the entire
length of the procession route with mashals (torches) in hand.
The procession heads towards the jetty, which is at The Promenade,
City Palace complex from where they are ushered into, decorated boats
to ferry across the lake in form of a procession to the Jagmandir
Island in the middle of the Lake Pichola, Decorated for the special
occasion. The whole island has an encompassing view of the City
Palace, Lake Palace, the Lake and the Aravali ranges of hills.

In the middle of Lake Pichola, commanding a magnificent view of the
City Palace, Lake Pichola and Sajjangarh Fort, on its own island, was
built the Jagmandir. The first stone was laid in 1623 by Maharana
Karan Singhji and was completed by Maharana Jagat Singhji in 1629.
Prince Khuram later known as Emperor Shahajahan took refuge here when
he revolted his father, he stayed here for nine months and historian
says that from here he got inspiration to build Tajmahal. Made of the
finest yellow sandstone inlaid with marble, it has been dedicated to
the Lord of the Universe. In the middle of its courtyard, is a most
exquisitely carved chhatri of special grey-green granite called "Pareva",
imported especially for this purpose. Fountains play, in its
magnificent courtyard as stately elephants guard the entrance to the
island.
To give a glimpse into how exotic and memorable an event at Jagmandir
can be, the following is simply put:
The guests are transferred to the Jagmandir Island in Decorated boats.
The sight as one nears the island is stunning, as the whole island is
beautifully illuminated and looks like a floating jewel. Once inside,
the place transports you to another era, recapturing the essence of
royal leisure palaces. Dinner and entertainment is a lavish affair,
with barbeque snacks made live and a sumptuous spread of buffet
dinner, with a choice of traditional yet lively folk song & dance
program or DJ music with a dance floor, with the grand finale of
spectacular fire works.
Both the Mandaps on the either side of Ganesha’s temple has floor
seating with mattress and bolsters and Decorated with flowers with is
especially set-up for the wedding rituals. At the time of wedding
ceremony live music (Shehanai), player to be seated at the Chattri
opposite the temple on the other side of the main courtyard fills the
atmosphere with waves of happiness.
Meanwhile, chefs carefully lay down the buffet inviting guests to
savor the specialties of auspicious day.
